Yellowbird is a mobile therapy service. You can be seen at your home, pre-school, school, day program or in the community depending on your goals and needs.
We strongly believe your therapy outcomes are more effective when completed in your natural environments.
Assessment
At Yellowbird therapy you can expect a comprehensive assessment to help guide your service goals and intervention. Standardised and non-standardised assessments will be completed depending on your need.
Collaborating with other important people in your life (teachers, carers etc) will help provide a holistic view to ensure therapy is unique to your needs.
Collaborative goals will be set with you and reviewed regularly.
Intervention
Yellowbird Therapy has extensive experience in a range of evidence-based interventions to help you achieve your goals.
Some of the areas for intervention may include:
- Infant hand skill development
- Fine motor skills
- Visual motor skills
- Self-care skills
- Play and social skills
- Pre-writing and handwriting
Therapy sessions are typically 1 hour but this can vary depending on the need.
Equipment prescription
Yellowbird therapy has extensive experience in prescribing assistive technology across the lifespan including:
- Manual wheelchairs
- Power wheelchairs
- Power assist devices
- Seating systems
- Electric bed and mattress
- Shower commodes
- Supportive seating and indoor seating systems
- Custom designs
Functional Capacity Assessment
A functional capacity assessment is a thorough assessment of an individuals abilities and support needs across various aspects of everyday life. This assessment is commonly requested by NDIS to help guide goals and funding is different domains including accommodation and therapy.
Yellowbird has experience in completing functional capacity assessments.
Report Writing
Documenting your assessment results and therapy plan is important for many reasons including: your own records, sharing information with others including specialists and justifying funding needs for example - equipment and NDIS funding.
Report writing is charged at an hourly rate.
Funding & Fee Schedule
Yellowbird Therapy provides services funded by NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed), as well as privately paying.
